Sports Pavilion

Circa £400K has been utilised to refurbish and extend the Victor Pearce Sports Pavilion at Memorial Park.

Using funds of £181,932 provided by the Football Association, £45,000 provided by developer contributions and the remainder, met by the Town Council, the pavilion now conforms to Football Association standards for football changing rooms.  It also houses a multi-functional community space and a fully working commercial kitchen from which refreshments are provided each weekend during the football season by Delish Catering.

The extension allows for secure storage of football nets and associated footballing equipment.

Improved parking arrangements, external lighting, a defibrillator, and CCTV have also been incorporated in the refurbishment.

As part of the funding agreement with the FA, on-going improvements are being made to the grass and soil management of the football pitches.

Current users are –Brookside Athletic Men’s and Ladies, Kirklands FC, and Syston Town Juniors.

A plaque commemorating the Platinum Jubilee of the late HM Queen Elizabeth II is also on display.
