Community Speed Watch – Stewards needed
Syston Town Council are campaigning for safer roads in Syston. Community Speed Watch is an educational scheme to help people reduce speeding throughout their community. The scheme enables volunteers to work within their community to raise awareness of the dangers of speeding and to help control the problem locally. The scheme runs with the aid of a poster campaign and the use of radar speed detection equipment that will not lead to prosecution; and this will help to underline the community’s commitment to reducing speed.
We now need your help to gather statistical evidence on the average speeds that traffic is travelling through Syston. All stewards will be fully trained by Leicestershire County Council and full PPE will be provided.
Four key areas have been identified (for the first campaign) as attracting some of the worst offending speed spots and these areas will be observed over a set period of time using specialised speed monitoring equipment. The first dates planned are 13- 26 May 2023
- Fosse Way, Syston
- Barkby Road, Syston
- East Avenue, Syston
- Pembroke Avenue, Syston
It is now up to us as a community to show our support for action to be taken against speeding traffic. Please help us in our efforts to reduce speeding traffic in Syston.
